Mummers Waiting
Diarmuid Mc Manus (he/him)
“The Mummers parade is a part of Philly where I see my vibe showing up with all the bright costumes and partying people. I like the bright costumes on the plain white background.”

Dream
Oliver Fegel (he/him)
“Dreaming is part of the human condition. When I pulled out my camera to snap a picture of the subway, it turned out much better than I expected. I think this photo is a sign, the luck involved with capturing it must mean something. I believe dreaming is my vibe, and this picture captures it brilliantly.”

Sunrise Through City Hall
Lara Goldwert (she/her)
“City Hall is arguably one of the most well-known landmarks of Philadelphia. Its beautiful architecture and rich history make it stand out next to Philly's glass skyline. Growing up, I walked past City Hall twice a day on my commute to school, and I started taking it for granted or barely recognizing it at all. Then, one morning, on my walk to school, I saw this sunrise highlighting the heart of Philadelphia so beautifully. It made me deeply appreciate where I’m from and what I see every day.”

“35mm Double Exposure: Although I don't live in Fishtown, I do live in Port Richmond, both of which are part of the Riverwards section of Philly. Riverwards is such a wonderful part of our city, with all its diversity of race, gender, political views, vibe, and archiecture. It originated as housing for the port workers, which is where the neighborhoods get their name, and it still remains largely lower and middle class, making it a very good place to raise families. I have lived here my whole life, and this picture really embodies it, and the greater philly metro. SEPTA is how I get to school everyday, and public transportation is the skeleton which holds up the whole city. SEPTA helps people get where they need to get, movin' up in life. The background exposure is the Philly cityscape, which is what I see everyday when I'm going to school. Philly is all in this picture, and so is the Riverwards pride.”

“Philadelphia is connected through its diversity in culture, people, and SEPTA. Throughout the past few years we have seen the struggles of septa to continue running and its workers working hard towards preserving what’s left. The workers also have their own struggles in deserving more earnings. SEPTA is a team of people because people are the drivers and conductors. SEPTA as a whole deserves more recognition in Philadelphia because of the facts that it is part of the reason many students in college or high school get to school. People use the buses to get to work, to get to Chinatown or South street. It’s so integrated into Philadelphia, people often forget it’s not Philadelphia owned. Much funding is needed to keep SEPTA operating. People need to start appreciating and taking care of SEPTA.”

Walking to the Train
Oliver van der Putten (he/him)
“I moved to Philly last year from upstate NY for college, and what I really love about it are the little pockets of maintained history - for example this old beer factory that I happened upon on a walk on a cloudy day. My vibe changes day to day I think, but recently, with all that's going on in our nation, I've felt an underlying sense of dread, like smelling rain on the breeze, and I tried to capture that feeling here. It's not a "happy photo," but I feel it contains a sense of optimism; like even though this factory is a shell of its former self, it continues to stand.”
